This book is filling in many of the gaps in my research. For example, I needed to learn about the gold and other valuable items the Aztecs produced. This book describes the gifts Montezuma sent to Cortes when he thought he was the God Quetzalcoatl. It mentions, “…a serpent mask inlaid with turquoise, a decoration for the breast made of quetzal feathers, a collar woven in the petatillo style with a gold disk in the center, and a shield decorated with gold and mother-of-pearl and bordered with quetzal feathers with a pendant of the same feathers.”
The book includes several pages of descriptions of even more such items. These are going to be a big help as I continue to write Calusa Gold.
